It's 12 AM. The drive-thru is open all night.

You work the window at the Moonlite Burger. Cars pull up to the speaker, you take the order, you ring it up, you fill the bag, you hand it over. That's the job.

There's a sheet of rules taped up by the till. It changes every night. Most customers are just customers.

Some aren't.

Please Pull Forward is a first-person horror game about doing a simple job carefully while something around you gets steadily worse. Read the rules. Watch the queue. Decide whether the thing at your window gets served, ignored, or shut out. Three strikes and your shift is over.

What you do

  • Take the order. Listen to the speaker, ring it up on the till, confirm it, pull them forward.
  • Fill the bag at the food station and hand it over: you lean over the counter, the bag goes out of the window, and something takes it from you.
  • Follow the rules on the sheet. An empty car at the window. An order that isn't on the menu. A car you've served before. A driver who knows your name. A customer whose window order doesn't match what they said at the speaker. A car with its lights off. A car that won't leave. A clock that's stuck at 4:44.
  • Turn your chair round (SPACE) to the car log and the lane camera behind you: who's been served tonight, and what's waiting in the queue. Be careful what you're looking at when you turn back.
  • Tune the radio. There's a radio on the desk behind you with four stations and an OFF button. Some stations are better than others. One of them isn't a station.

Features

  • Five nights that get stranger as the shift goes on, with rules that change every night and a last customer you won't forget.
  • Eight different kinds of wrong, each with its own rule on the sheet, its own tell, and its own consequences.
  • Customers that don't repeat themselves. A big bank of small talk, parting words and greetings, written to get stranger from night to night, shuffled so you don't hear a line again until you've heard the rest.
  • The lane camera. A grainy CCTV picture of the queue behind you. Odd things only ever happen on the camera while you're watching it.
  • Dread that responds to you. The lights, the sound, the picture and the radio all get worse as the night does. Quiet moments are not always quiet.
  • A drive-thru at night, in pixels. Low-poly 3D drawn at a deliberately low resolution, neon signs, grain, a menu board you can hover over, kitchen tickets for settings, and a thermal receipt that prints your night.
  • Retro speech. Every voice is generated live with SAM, the 1980s speech synthesizer. Everything is subtitled, with the subtitles typed out as it speaks.
  • Twitch chat can order. Turn on Twitch chat and viewers can place orders (!order), honk, flicker the lights, and vote to serve or refuse. No login needed, and it can never post in your chat. There's a built-in simulated chat window (F1) to try it offline.
  • Four radio stations (smooth night jazz, old-time slow dance, synthwave, and one you shouldn't leave on).
  • Your scare level. Gentle, Normal or Brutal. A Comfort mode removes strobing and flashing words, softens flashes and cuts the camera shake.

Content notes

Horror themes, sudden loud sounds and jump scares, flickering lights, dim and dark scenes, unsettling voices and text, and an unsettling driver or two. No gore. The scare level can be turned down (Gentle), and Comfort mode removes strobing and flashing text. Subtitles are on by default and can be made larger.

Controls

Left Click - Mouse
SPACE - turn the chair round to the car log and lane camera (and back)
